The Game

Conflict of Heroes- Awakening the Bear! (Russia 1941-1942) is a squad-level tactical combat simulation by Academy Games. The author is Uwe Eickert. The game has an elegant system and is produced lavishly. It is the best game of its kind I ever had- you could say it is the game I have been waiting for all these years. My Variant Ideas

• 1/2" counter sheet (PDF file, 4MB / JPEG image of mounted counters)
  These counters have two main purposes: They allow to design CoH firefights for ASL boards- I am sure that many owners of CoH also have ASL, and there are quite beautiful boards available, particularly in the historical modules. They may also be used to un-clutter the large-scale boards of CoH (and DeLuxe-ASL) in firefights with many units. And you can use them to build a travel edition of the game (thanks, Felkor!).
  The public upload of these counters was permitted by Uwe Eickert, the publisher and copyright owner of the game; I thank him for the generous permission. I myself hold the copyright for the variant counters.
• Images of fictive scenarios, using the 1/2" counters:
  • Roadblock on ASL board 6
  • Roadblock on ASL DeLuxe board d
  • Stalingrad: A German breakthrough to the Volga is stopped (board is from the ASL Red Barricades historical module)
  • Monte Cassino: Germans dug in, waiting... when will the British arrive? (What do you think, Uwe?) (board is from the ASL/Heat of Battle Fortress Cassino module)
• Now I am waiting for CoH firefights using the ASL boards- scenario designers, go ahead!
• Calculator of Heroes- a circular digital slide rule to calculate combat results. Yes, I am able to do it in my head, but I thought it would be a nice gadget, and I was in an engineering frame of mind at the moment (PDF file, 1 MB / JPEG image of the assembled calculator)
